"After article headlined “Grodziec Slaski ring road – wasted chance of combination of needed investition and environmental protection” appeard in Upper Silesia Nature (number 49/2007), students of University of Silesia, moved by ineffectual actions of officials and hurting of natural environment and its inhabitants, initiated action of gathering signatures under petition which asks Silesian Voivode for taking effective actions to protect amphibians in the Grodziec Slaski area. Action was initiated on one faculty and quickly spreaded on the other ones: Silesian Medical University and Silesian Technical University where it also gained support and was understood by students and workers. Also students of few schools (inter alia I Grammar School in Knurow) were defencing the amphibians. With joined forces, youthful enthusiasm and conviction about rightness of action over thousand signatures were gathered. Site authors hope that voice of so many persons, usually do not professionally connected with environmental protection, but awared of necessity of natural world respect, will move conscience of authorithies who are professionally responsible for environmental protection."
